Over 25 years in Canada Jean Philippe worked on many different international development projects in Latin America and Africa for SUCO, World University Services Canada (WUSC) and for the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). For a number of years he was the Director of CIDA’s Briefing Centre that was responsible for intercultural learning and language training for Canadians traveling abroad to share their expertise.
From 1997 to 2000 Jean Philippe was seconded from CIDA to Save the Children Fund Canada as the Country Director for Burkina Faso and Mali.
In West Africa he had programs for street children – education and livelihood training projects. Programs had an emphasis on the Rights of Children, trying to improve working condition for children working in mines and those being taken to work in the cocoa plantations.
